Light Blast (1987)

Erik Estrada plays inspector named Ronn Warren in this fast paced actioner. Story line is pretty straight forward: San Francisco's mayor gets a call from mad scientist who threatens to destroy the city with a deadly laser ray unless the city pays him 5 million dollars. Mayor puts Warren on the case. This one is pretty damn good action movie. Lots of cars chases, melting faces (hey that rhymes...), shootouts, explosions and all that good ol' '80s action. There is some good scores in this movie, i noticed tapping my feet to one of the car chase scenes. BTW, can you name one action movie filmed in San Francisco that doesn't have car chase scene where they drive up and down that hill??? The special effects. Oh man. The opening scene where the mad scientist tests the death ray on the train cart and kills the couple inside the cart is just classic. Melting bodies, big ass explosion (well not quite, but...) and the infamous death ray! The '80s, gotta love it. Directed by Enzo G. Castellari (Keoma, Street Law).
